Led by Professor Robin Wood and his
wife, Doctor Linda-Gail Bekker, we
are a team of enthusiastic doctors, nurses and lay people, who have been involved in AIDS care and research for more than ten years – during which we have built up a wide experience and partnerships both locally and internationally.

Working from the HIV Clinic at Somerset Hospital, we were the first to access antiretroviral treatment for our patients in South Africa. Realising this was not enough, we began taking treatment out to where the most needy people are: Nyanga district, Masiphumelele and other poverty- stricken areas.

Our approach to the HIV epidemic in these areas is holistic, covering awareness, treatment, voluntary counselling and testing, education and support to young people and training for professional and lay health care workers.
