Message from Archbishop Desmond Tutu

For years I believed that the fight against Apartheid and opression in South Africa would be by greatest battle.

But now we face an even greater scourge ... one that is claiming he lives of thusands of south Africans, regardless of race or social status.

Please join the fight against HIV/Aids now. Your caring means the difference between life and death.

Every day I am seeing orphans left with nobody to look after them, because we could not help their parents or young girls pregnant and HIV infected because we didn't teach them differently.

At the Desmond Tutu HIV Centre, we are trying to change the way things are here by providing care and support to those infected, teaching our children how to avoid HIV and training doctors, nurses and counsellors like myself.

Please will you help save the life of an Aids patient or a young person in South
Africa?

Your donation of R500 (about £42 or $100) provides a counsellor for ten days, a month's supply of drugs or a module of life skills teaching in a primary school.

Every day I am walking in the township and people are crying to me, ‘Nobafundi, help me. I have a sister ... mother ... son … who is dying. Please, tell me what I must do to get help for them?

I am a counsellor for the Desmond Tutu HIV Centre and we are treating people with miracle drugs called antiretrovirals.

'Here in Guguletu, Cape Town, we are burying people
every day who have died of Aids.

Mothers, fathers, children, brothers and sisters.
Neighbours we have known all our lives ..
.'
